Listen While He Speaks
My boyfriend and I have great conversations about anything and everything. We usually bounce ideas and thought off each other.
Me: Babe, you never answered my question.
Him: Yes, I did. I guess you were not listening.
Me: Possibly. Repeat yourself. Thanks.
Him: Think about why you want do it? Are you doing it to overcompensate in area in which you may be deficient in?
Me: quickly responds, nope.
Him: I’m going to play devil’s advocate. Do you want to be the smartest person in your circle? They may say, because you’re not a light skin jawn that could be a reason as to why your venturing down this path to achieve. Or, because you don’t have an hour-glass figure that may be a reason as to why you’re dabbling into this.
Me: I hear ya! I’m still saying nope because I am confident in who I am as a woman.
Him: Baby girl, you’re a threat already. You’re pressing towards being a real dangerous educated woman.
Me: I know, but it does not make my dreams less real and attainable. This is something that I’ve always wanted and I’m going to work until I get it.
*So, I was never forced to think about what the others may say, but this conversation has allowed me the opportunity to reflect and wonder what might be said on the other side. I know what I want and I am trusting God that things will work out. I will remain prayed up!
